Profile
Ichi Takashi is a singer-songwriter, composer and producer from Ogaki, Gifu, whose music exists somewhere between intimate pop, R&B, electronic music and avant-garde sound. A graduate of Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and its graduate program, he brings a strong knowledge of composition and arrangement into music that can be both emotionally direct and sonically unpredictable.
He began releasing music as a singer-songwriter in 2019, handling much of his own songwriting, production and mixing. His 2021 debut album Shonen Rentou established his distinctive approach: beautiful melodies collide with IDM, electronica, abstract hip-hop and contemporary composition, while his nuanced vocals keep even the more experimental arrangements emotionally accessible. The album received praise from artists including Tavito Nanao and Haru Nemuri.
Ichi has also been an active collaborator, working as a composer, arranger and musician on projects by artists including butaji and Yukkyun. His work has consistently blurred the boundary between singer-songwriter pop and more experimental forms of electronic and contemporary music.
In 2026, Ichi Takashi moved decisively toward the dancefloor with JYAGA. Their collaboration “Okaaayyy!!!” draws on voguing and ballroom culture, turning Ichi’s melodic sensibility into an energetic house track. Both artists are openly queer, and the song celebrates queer nightlife and spaces in Japan, including Shinjuku Ni-chome’s AiSOTOPE LOUNGE.
The result is an artist who is difficult to place neatly into one genre. Ichi Takashi can move from intimate, avant-pop songwriting to experimental electronic composition and then into club music without abandoning his focus on melody and emotional texture. That ability to connect seemingly distant musical worlds is what makes him one of the more intriguing independent voices in contemporary Japanese pop.
