Kana Nishino is one of the defining Japanese pop singers of the late 2000s and 2010s, known for her highly relatable love songs, conversational lyrics, and distinctive fashion. Her music became especially popular among young women, turning her into one of the biggest female pop stars of her generation.

She made her major-label debut in 2008 and broke through with songs including “Tōku temo,” “Best Friend,” “Aitakute Aitakute,” and “Dear…” Her albums and singles repeatedly topped the Japanese charts, while her fashion and lyrics became closely associated with the youth culture of the early 2010s.
